Interning Potential Enemies In a Time of War

The United States questioned the loyalty of the Nisei Americans after Pearl Harbor. Consequently, internment camps were created in the western states of California, Arizona, Idaho, and Wyoming. Japanese citizens often complained of the treatment they received in these places. However, the United States had been attacked by Japan. What do you think? In this time of war was the United States justified in placing Japanese-Americans in the camps as potential spies? Explain your position.
