How did the Cold War and the accompanying proxy wars, arms race, space race, etc. affect the economies of developing countries (formerly called "Third World")? Was the Cold War responsible for the development of these countries or did we ultimately strangle these countries' development? Explain your reasoning using examples & if possible make connections between CW-era policies & current events (i.e.- Operation ____________ in Vietnam & _________).
